Hall 2 Exhibits

Sun 40Ch AM

Sun 40 Ch AM

Japanese made 40 Channel rig in same chassis/case as Colt444 (see below)

This example bears serial of 80041182.

Colt 444 120Ch AM/FM

Colt 444 120 Ch AM/FM

120 Channels in 3 'shifts' - Low, Mid, High.

Switchable power output 0.5W, 5W, 10W, with seperate AM modulation calibration for each power to keep it mean but clean. Pulling Squelch knob out selects FM mode on the AM/FM version (as shown). Meter lights in green on Rx, red on Tx. No PA facility (but then so what?). A personal favourite.

Ham International UK 120Ch AM/FM

Ham International UK 120Ch AM/FM

120 Channels in 3 'shifts' - Low, Mid, High.

A Ham International UK badged version of the Colt 444 (see above). Uses LC7120 PLL chip. Made in Japan, this example bore the serial number 81071252.

Formac 120 - 120Ch AM/FM

Formac 120 - 120 Ch AM/FM

120 Channels in 3 'shifts' - Low, Mid, High.

Major M360

Major M360 120 Ch AM/SSB/FM

120 Channels in 3 'shifts' - Mid, High, High-High.

Has DX/Local switchable attenuator and switchable NB+ANL. Specifications claim 10W AM/FM 12Wpep SSB.

Lovely low noise high sensitivity receiver.

There was also an M588 which was an 80 Ch version.

Stalker IX

Stalker IX - 80 Ch AM/SSB

80 Channels in 2 'shifts' - Mid & High.

Has RF Gain, Display dimmer, Switchable (together ) Noise Blanker/Automatic Noise Limiter, Clarifier(SSB)/Delta Tune(AM) +/- 1.25kHz. Mic level control is on microphone, as thumbwheel in edge of microphone shell.
A nice looking rig.

Size 7.25" x 2.25" x 9.25" Wt 4lbs
Specifications claim 4W AM/FM 12Wpep SSB.

Stalker 9-FDX

Stalker 9-FDX - 80 Ch AM/SSB/FM

80 Channels in 2 'shifts' - Mid & High.

Has facilities of Stalker IX (see above) but with addition of FM. Uses green LED to left of model name to indicate FM mode selected - standard model uses this LED for RX indication. Mic level control is on microphone, as thumbwheel in edge of microphone shell.
This evidently uses a different PCB to the standard Stalker IX, as the rear panels are quite different in layout..

Electronica 360

Electronica Model 360 120 Ch AM/SSB

120 Channels in 3 'shifts' - (A,B,C).

An unusual chassis which uses the MC145106 PLL and 9 ( yes nine!) crystals. Has a Modulation indicator LED (the green LED to right of meter), and RF Gain switch to provide DX/Local sensitivities.

Cobra 146GTL

Cobra 146GTL 40 Ch AM/SSB

120 Channels in 3 'shifts' - Low, Mid, High.

Has RF gain, switchable ANL or ANL+NB. Made in Taiwan.

This example was modified to have 80 channels with high-shift selected at the OFF position of the NB/ANL switch.

Nice low-noise receive section. Many of the controls are mounted on a PCB behind the front panel, giving a slightly flimsy feel except for volume control and channel switch. FCC ID: 146GTL. This example bore serial number of 03011736, and was manufactured in 1980.

Cobra 148GTL-DX

Cobra 148GTL-DX 120 Ch AM/SSB/CW/FM

120 Channels in 3 'shifts' - Low, Mid, High.

Has coarse and fine clarifier controls,RF gain, Mic gain, switchable audio filter, switchable ANL+NB. Built-in SWR meter facility.

One of the few multimodes to have CW facility. Did anyone ever use it?

President Adams

President 'ADAMS' 80 Ch AM/SSB

80 Channels in 2 'shifts' - Mid & High.

Has RF Gain, Mic gain, Tone control, Display dimmer, Normal or Scan modes on Rx - Scan Monitors Ch9 Ch19 and selected channel, pausing on activity. Must be in Normal mode to transmit. Built in Modulation meter and SWR meter facilities. At 9" x 2.5" x 10.5" it's a rather large unit!

Specifications claim 4W AM/FM 12Wpep SSB.

President MADISON

President MADISON 80 Ch AM/SSB/FM

80 Channels in 2 'shifts' - Mid & High.

A L-A-R-G-E base-station multimode with selectable 240Vac/12Vdc supply. Separate S/RF and SWR/Modulation meters, an electro-mechanical digital clock (well seventies!) with alarm/timer, and NO internal loudspeaker. Yes that's right - a huge cabinet yet no built-in speaker!!! Two extension speaker sockets though!!

FM mode is selected using what would have been the channel 9 switch.
