PIRATES!:
The CD-ROM!

Yer One-Disk Source fer
All Things Piratical

Avast, mateys! Have a shipload o' fun with version 1.0 of PIRATES!: THE CD-ROM -- a multimedia extravaganza o' piratical stories, art, shareware games, movie stills, sounds, screen savers, poems, an' what-have-ye, all digitized an' collected, an' served up fer yer readin', viewin', playin', listenin', etc. pleasure!

An' since we mostly plundered public-domain sources ta bring it to ye, an' th' rest falls under "fair use" provisions o' th' copyright laws, every last bit o' booty on it is -- heh heh heh -- legally pirated!

We got Treasure Island, mateys, an' not just th' complete text. There's also art from th' first edition, a map o' th' island, an' o' course, all the paintin's by N.C. Wyeth from th' 1911 edition. An' I'm here ta tell ya, me hearties, them paintin's -- which we scanned in at 100-dpi, 24-bit color -- is mighty pleasin' ta th' eye!

An' complete texts ain't all we has o' Peter Pan an' Howard Pyle's Book of Pirates, neither. We accompanies 'em with stills from a 1924 silent movie version o' Peter Pan an' all o' Pyle's piratical artwork (includin' what ain't in th' book). Other classic piratical stories we has includes The King of Pirates an' Captain Singleton, both by Daniel Defoe; "The Gold Bug", by Edgar Allan Poe; The Corsair (an epic poem), by Lord Byron; an' th' "Captain Sharkey" stories by A. Conan Doyle.

We has yer favorite opera, too, mateys! That's right -- The Pirates of Penzance! We pillaged an' looted th' Internet 'till it yielded up th' entire libretto, all th' music in MIDI format, an' piles o' artwork includin' that drawn by Gilbert hisself! But th' slime-bellied barnacles couldn't come up with no sheet music, so we had ta scan that in fer ourselves.

Fer booty of a piratical nature, th' places ta start is No Quarter Given an' Pirates of the Spanish Main. The links ye'll find in them places is all ye needs ta begin a voyage on the cybersea. Arrrh! We found public domain booty a-plenty on that sea, mateys! Biographies an' portraits o' famous pirates, folk songs about pirates, shareware games about our brethren, piratical screen savers, an' even a couple o' recipes fer our favorite form o' sea rations, salmagundi. An' it's all available on Pirates: The CD-ROM.

But plunder from on-line sources ain't all we got! From one dead tree source or another (both in print an' out), we scanned in megabytes an' megabytes o' movie stills, contemporary portraits o' famous pirates, an' flags said to've been used by 'em. We converted a ol' Cap'n Crunch commercial with Jean LaFoot the Pirate ta Windows animation. We scanned in piratical comics stories, along with a gallery o' more'n 50 comic book covers. That an' more, mateys, ta th' tune o' perty near half a gigabyte!

What're ye waitin' fer? Order it!
