Ministry Updates

December, 2003

"The Lord hath done great things for us; whereof we are glad." Ps. 126:3. We must recount some of them for you and ask that you help us give Him praise for His mercies that we can never deserve.

In March 2001 Roger and Caraleen moved to Guanajuato to work full-time, after having spent several summers there in short-term work, and several years preparing to be able to make the move. Caraleen has a history of more than twenty years battling cancer, and Roger developed a sciatic nerve problem when they were driving down that left him almost unable to walk when they arrived in Guanajuato. However, God has graciously given Roger an almost complete recovery and Caraleen's lymphoma has been in remission for three years.

Since the summer of 2001, they have been systematically calling on homes in Silao and offering English classes , marriage and family therapy, and systematic in-home Bible study courses . They teach the Word of God in all these activities and use them as a means of building trust relationships, both of which the Holy Spirit may use to bring men to Christ. Roger and Caraleen currently have seventeen classes scheduled each week and members of eight other families are pursuing individual Bible study courses. Approximately fifty people participate in these activities and several have made credible professions of faith in Christ. Eleven people from four families came for the first worship service in November 2003,including two couples. Such meetings will be intermittent until early 2004 when they hope to begin weekly worship services.

A personal note from Roger and Caraleen Bynum:  There is much more work to do here in Silao than we can handle without help, and there are several other nearby cities where we would also like to begin a similar outreach when the Lord provides other colleagues to help in the harvest. We need people with Spanish ability to work with women and/or children, and of course we need men too to share the gospel.

Would you begin praying about how the Lord may use you to work with us, and then contact us from the link on the home page? The Leon/Guanajuato International airport (code BJX) that serves the area is 10 minutes from our home in Silao, and makes it convenient for friends to visit. We are also pleased to confer with you by e-mail on any issues about which you desire counsel, and we welcome your counsel and fellowship.

More than conquerors through Him that loved us!—Romans 8:37
