DIESEL
LOCOMOTIVE
There are four kinds of
diesel locomotive, they are Diesel locomotives, Diesel-electric
locomotive, Diesel hydraulic-locomotive, and diesel-mechanical
locomotives.
HOW IT WORKS
Most modern diesel-electric
locomotives are still based on a design introduced in the
United States in 1924. On the Deltic diesel-electric
locomotive, which was widely used by British Railways
from 1960 to 1976, there are 18 cylinder diesel engines
that are used to power two direct-current electric
generators.
