Ljufur fra Kanastodum, import
|
Icelandic Horses number approximately 3,000 in North America. They are gaining in popularity every year.Approximately half of this number are imports to North America and about half are domestic stock. The horses from Iceland arrive with "import" papers. The horses should then be registered in the United States or Canada with the respective agencies:
Icelandic Horses can be quite "goey" which is the way that Icelanders like them. Americans tend to like the quieter, more willing horses. Be careful of this word "willing"--the Icelanders equate it with "goey"!Icelandic Horses imported from Iceland usually need some basic training and groundwork to switch over to the American way of riding. See Training Tips.
