IRC
IRC
is short for Internet Relay Chat, a way for people from anywhere in the
world to talk to each other over the internet in real-time. If ten people
are on the same channel, and one of them types something on their keyboard,
it appears on the screens of the other nine almost instantaneously.
You may
not realize it, but if you are connected to the internet, you almost certainly
can connect to IRC. All you need is a client (special software) and the
name of a server. Or, you might be able to use our shortcut.
There
are alot of different IRC networks using different sets of connected servers,
Efnet, the Undernet, and DALnet (biggest to smallest) are the largest.
We've started out at DALnet, but then switched over to a little gem of a network we found (SorceryNet).
There are numerous channels on each of them dedicated to particular topics
or themes, where people who are interested in the same subject can meet
to chat. Well ours is for Corrie fans, and you have to be on
TGnet to find us!
To find
out how to connect with us, click on the link below. If you are new to
this whole thing, just use the shortcut that you'll find there. So there,
you have nothing to lose, and it really is a LOT of fun.
