VQ Association / Fleet Air Reconnaissance Association

Email received Wed, 11 Feb 2004:
I just ran across the website dealing with PR-26 and I found it most interesting.  I was a two tour Willy Flight Engineer in VQ-1 and I was in DaNang the day 26 crashed. I would like to tell you about the VQ Association of which I am the secretary so perhaps you can link us to your website and invite you to join our association..

We are made up of past and present (by far "past") members of VQ-1, 2, 5, 6 and Security Group members who flew with the squadron.  We have well over a thousand names in our data base.  Each year we have a reunion that rotates to different parts of the country.  We do this to give everyone an opportunity to attend.  Our last get together was in Las Vegas in October and we had around 250 attendees.  We put out two newsletters per year plus we have a roster that we put out which lists names, times in squadron, jobs, type of aircraft flown or worked on, address, phone number and e-mail.

We also have a website for the association which is located at: http://www.kleinandstump.com/vq/index.htm

Our next reunion in October, 2004 will be in Memphis.  The year following it will be in Pensacola, FL.

We have a formal organization with a president, VP, secretary, treasurer and a board of directors (all unpaid I might add!).  We even have a chaplain who is a ordained minister.  Projects we are working on include compiling a history of the VQ squadrons from the beginnings in WWII until the present time, promoting the organization and publicizing the contributions of the VQ community.

For more info on the organization or the reunions my address is as follows:
