July 1967 Attack and Other Photos - page 1

I was a Staff Sgt. in the USAF
when I was assigned to Danang Air Base. I was there from Sept. 1966
till Sept. 67. I was assigned to the 1972 Communications Squadron and
worked in the Telephone Outside Plant Section. If you were there at
Danang during this time and had a telephone, Chances are you saw me
around. I installed and maintained telephones and telephone systems all
over the base including I Corp Headquarters. I remember doing a lot of
work for Col. (Now Deceased and Major General) Robert W. Maloy who was
Commander of the 366th Tactical Fighter Wing. We also installed
telephone cabe to the American Consulate in down town Danang.
I have some very wonderful memories of
Danang, Both good and bad but I survived so I guess that is what
matters. For all who served time in that far off land, I thank you all
for your service to this wonderful Country of Ours and I salute you one
and all. God Bless America and Welcome Home Brothers and Sisters.

Randall Gillespie,
SMSgt, USAF, Retired and I am sending these photos I took when I was a
SSgt. stationed at Danang AB from Sept 66 till Sept. 67.
The
attached photos were as best I remember, taken after the July attack on
Danang AB. I say that because I was injured and evacuated to Cam Ron
Bay Army Hospital for about three weeks after the Feb 27 attack on
Danang.
I have several more that I can send if
you like.
You
have my permission to publish these to your site or dispose of in what
ever manner you choose. I just thought some people would enjoy them.
Some of the photos are very similar to
some that have already
been posted.
