A BRIEF HISTORY
Black Star Oil Company is a Texas corporation formed over ten years ago by
Gary Carter, who serves as President
of the corporation. Carter has over 25 years of experience in the oil
and gas business, primarily as a geologist/geophysicist, and, for the last
15 years, as drilling, completion and production engineer. He provides oversight
for all phases of the operation of Black Star Oil Company. Since receiving
the B.S. in Geological Sciences from the University of Texas in Austin, with
subsequent graduate coursework in the geosciences from the University of
Houston, Carter worked for the larger independents, Williams Exploration
Company and Transco Exploration Company, gaining experience in many basins
of the United States. Some of the areas worked are Texas, Lousiana,
Oklahoma, Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama, and the Williston Basin of North
and South Dakota, Montana and Canada. During Carter's time at Transco, he
was involved with the company's efforts in the offshore Atlantic of the eastern
seaboard of the United States, especially the Baltimore Canyon. This
experience involved performing geophysical modelling in a frontier area.
During those years and since, Carter has explored for and discovered several
oil and gas fields for a number of smaller independents. Black Star
Oil Company's main activity has been located in Texas, where the company
has drilled, completed, and discovered oil and gas wells.
Example of successful seismic exploration. A Mississippian
reef exhibiting drape in overlying horizons. This is one of our
confirmation wells for the Blackstar (Mississipppian) Fields in Texas.
When drilling into the Reef, the bit fell a couple of feet into
vugular/cavernous porosity.
Black Star Oil Company continues to expand its expertise into the newer
exploration technologies of today. We are skilled in the identification
of new and overlooked pays. Get in contact with us to discuss ways in which
we can be of service. We look forward to working with you.
