Angel of The Presence: With two Essence, Teriel radiates an aura that compels those in her presence to venerate her or one other of her choosing (usually Lucifer) as if they were God on a failed Will roll. The effects last for a number of hours equal to the total of Teriel's Word Forces.

Appearance: A tall Seraph, with scales of purest white. Her six eyes are cold white light (without pupils or irises) that blaze intensely at whoever looks at them. She wears an armored white breastplate lined in blue-gold flames, with Lucifer's sigil predominant. Around her head is a golden halo (like a Cherub's or a Mercurian's) which reflects from her armor. At her sides are strapped swords handed her by Lucifer himself; one formed of white crystal that blazes with pure light and the other a blade of kaleidoscopic crystal whose hilt gleams with the Lightbringer's own scales. This sword shines with an iridescent, rainbow light when wielded. Teriel is ambidextrous, using both wings to grip the hilts of her blades.

She rarely takes Corporeal form, as she considers mortals beneath her, but when she does she appears as a tall, albino Asian woman in her early 20's, with long white hair and oddly white eyes, clad all in white.

History: Teriel was originally created by Lucifer as a Seraph of Light, two thousand years or so before the Revolution. The only thing that made her stand out amongst the other angels of Light was that her eyes were a shining, pure white, and so were her scales. Being that this was Heaven, she was not teased, but she imagined that she was persecuted, so she resolved to get into a position where no one could 'tease' her anymore.

To that extent, Teriel closed the doors of her heart. She dedicated herself to working her way up Lucifer's organization. Her efficiency in promoting the Word of Light got her several Distinctions and Attunements by the Lightbringer. Three centuries before the Revolution, Teriel had been made the personal secretary of the Archangel of Light. Now that she had this rank, she felt that she could deal with her 'persecutors'. She singled out several innocent angels and began using her rank to screw up their lives. Personnel records were fudged or lost. Loyal angels who had served Lucifer centuries or millennia before Teriel came into being found themselves demoted or unjustly punished. Complaints filed at Lucifer's office were shredded.

When word got out, Teriel became hated, but she took it as justification of her persecution complex. Those who complained had their files altered, and many ended up punished unfairly. Teriel became truly despised after a popular Seraph Master of Illumination was demoted to babysitting Relievers for irritating Teriel. His exemplary record got inexplicably switched with that of a goof-off Reliever.

Then came the Revolution. Teriel was frightened at this affront to her cherished order of things. Her fear of the consequences if Lucifer were defeated caused her to fight proudly for Lucifer, personally sparing the Lightbringer many blows from angels fighting against the New Order. She crowed with delight each time that she laid low a foe of Lucifer's. In the time after the Revolution, Lucifer noted her zeal and made a snap decision, based on the organizational chaos amongst the Servitors of Light at the time. He proclaimed Teriel as the Angel of The Presence, Chief Administrator of the Council Spires under Lucifer himself, and made her his second-in-command and his mouthpiece.

Teriel's duties were expanded greatly in Lucifer's new Heaven, and her critics found themselves forcibly silenced. Teriel could always seem to find some evidence that an angel who spoke out against her was collaborating with the Exiles, or somehow working to undermine Lucifer's regime, then those angels would find themselves thrown to the Sword for formal inquiry and usually soul-death. Teriel likes Laurence. The upstart Archangel has an admirable attention to his duty.

Personality: What personality? Teriel's pleasure in life comes from unthinking, absolutely mindless service to Lucifer, and in punishing every enemy of Lucifer's. Lucifer protects her from the enemies that she knows lurk around every corner, providing stability for her. She'd love to personally throttle the Exiles one and all, but has - regretfully - decided to leave such pleasures to the Archangel of the Sword. She is still convinced that everyone is against her, although nowadays, that's not too far off. Somehow, messages just don't get through to Lucifer when Teriel does not like a person.

Often, angels who offend her find themselves facing angry Sword inquisitors, trying to defend themselves against trumped-up charges coming straight from Lucifer's office on his personal stationary. Due to her administration of the Council Spires, she knows a lot, and uses it to shield Lucifer from what she feels is unnecessary, extraneous, or both. There is a reason for this. She loves the Lightbringer with all her heart, soul, and Forces.

The Presence of the Light

It is well known that Teriel's personality makes liquid nitrogen seem warm and fuzzy by comparison. So why does she love the Archangel of Light? Teriel believes that Lucifer is the only being worthy of trust in the universe. To her, he is her shining Light, the only one worthy of loyalty. This fanaticism and the perks he has given her as his second-in-command has engendered in her a deep love of Lucifer combined with a fierce protectiveness of him. She'd never hesitate to kill for him, take dissonance or Discord for him, or even to lay down her Forces for Lucifer.

The Word of The Presence: Before the rise of Glory, Teriel often worked amongst the mortals she has learned to despise, increasing veneration for leaders amenable to Heaven and enhancing the status of those Heaven wanted in charge. Nowadays, that is mostly left to Glory, although she does occasionally do corporeal work. Most of her time is spent in the Council Spires, and she loves her desk job. She can keep her eyes on the rest of Lucifer's staff (and that potential traitor Saminga). It keeps her from having to be out in the world of the lowly mortals and in places where 'they can strike at her (and 'they' are everywhere in her mind, even infiltrating the Lightbringer's office). She uses her Seraphic resonance to enforce her personal Truth on others, making them look about suspiciously for the 'enemy'. Of course, to Teriel, they could be the enemy she fears. After all, you never know whose is a spy for Them...
