Galai is one of the oldest souls in Hades. Although he's accumulated quite a few Forces during his stay - some estimates put him between 11 and 13 - he has never requested to become a Shade, nor has he accepted the several offers he's had. Galai is content to sit around Hades, making sure the place is run correctly.

Most notable, though, is probably the fact that Galai oversees a large area of Hades - the area, in fact, which was once the demesnes of Destiny. He is responsible for the disposition of several thousand souls, and while his methods of reform are not especially harsh, neither are they lenient. Galai is excellent at making certain that the souls in his charge do not backslide too often, and actually make progress toward the goal of reforming.

Not many people are close to Galai; those who are don't tend to mention things like his eyes to onlookers. For as old as Galai is, his eyes seem infinitely older, with a wisdom and experience that even his vast age doesn't account for. Then, too, his hands seem older than the rest of his body, callused and wrinkled, as if they had been working since time began and would continue until time ended, had he the choice.

There is a rumor spread about Hades - one which has leaked, a little, to Heaven, and been the source of at least one of the Host's incursions toward Hades - that claims that Galai was the only human soul present when Yves died, and that some piece of the Archangel became fused with Galai's own soul.

Understandably, nobody's actually asked the soul about this - but it would certainly explain the eyes...
