The Song of Anvils (Ethereal) (Restricted)

This Song originated in the Marches, probably. No one wants to admit being the discoverer: even Seraphim can't determine that particular Truth. Blandine and Kobal both actively teach it (it happens to be very useful), and it's certain that Laurence, Jean, Kronos and Beleth at least know it, but Superiors in the latter group try not to hand it out too often. It's so undignified.

The Song causes damage equal to twice (Essence spent times the check digit), in either Mind or Soul hits (performer's choice). However, this damage (and all effects from it) is strictly temporary: the hits lost will reappear ten minutes later. Thus, if (for example) use of this Song results in a Force being stripped, said Force will return ten minutes later (along with whatever hits were lost in the process). Use of this Song in conjunction with regular attacks will not ever facilitate the permanent loss of a Force, the gaining of Discord, or the creation of a Remnant. It's an excellent way of knocking out someone for a few minutes, though.

Unfortunately (from some people's point of view), the manner in which this damage is inflicted is simply too inglorious for words. Essentially, an anvil falls from the sky and hits the target (this is a special effect: if the Song has successfully penetrated a target's defenses, then any attempt to evade the anvil will fail). This anvil disappears a second or so after it does its damage. There's also a humorous clanging noise. More importantly, this Song is not subtle: the disturbance generated is noteworthy, and trying to explain away large anvils falling from the sky can be a chore. Incidentally, the Ethereal Song of Shields completely protects against this Song, not the Corporeal.

There are rumors, incidentally, that certain Servitors of Stone have discovered the Corporeal version of this Song (no range, 3x [Essence spent times the check digit] in temporary Body hits, special effect: large wooden mallet pulled out from nowhere), but David scowls whenever the topic comes up. And nobody's admitting that they're looking for the Celestial version.
