Mizumah regularly reminds herself that this is just how it goes.  When you're new, you start off with Halo-flashing.

Ah, right, well, maybe that phrase should be more fully explained.  It goes like this: there's a percentage of the population out there that believes in angels.  Fluffy angels, to be precise: all full of the mystic soft-edged wonder of the cosmos and the healing power of the musical spheres and a whole bunch of other concepts that, while sounding quite nice and profound, clash horribly with the operating paradigm of a Manichean war to the knife.  Unfortunately, the percentage of the population that believes in the old-fashioned sort of angels is much, much lower, which can be a real pain when you're trying to get a message ported over.  And Hell is way too amused with the entire concept to just let attempts to change public perception go unanswered.

So: Halo-flashing.  If fluffy is what is expected, by God the Host has angels that can approximate it (although it's largely unnecessary during direct action scenarios: it's amazing how fast a human can get behind the entire I Am An Angel Of The Lord concept when it's immediately followed by So Let Go Of The Human, Foul Hell-Spawn).  Needless to say, for every message of actual importance you need X number of unimportant messages, with X being equivalent to the average number of messages needed to provide a reasonable amount of anonymity for the important ones.  After all, the Horde would notice very quickly if every time an angel appeared to a human something important happened.

So that's Mizumah's job: she's just started up with Ambiguous Visitations.  As her training progresses, she'll learn how to do Minor Serendipities, then branch out into Reassuring Manifestations, and her trainer thinks that the Mercurian has what it takes to cross-train into Visionary Dreamings.  If she's very good, Mizumah might even get a shot at Holiday Miracles; the slots are usually full, but there's always a place for the younger angels.  Even if she doesn't get the shot, Halo-flashing is still one of the standard beginning scenario for new angels, so she'll probably be doing it for a while; it's volunteer work, and work that Novalines actually tend to like, after all.  Although, as the above noted, Mizumah is perhaps getting just the tiniest bit interested in getting the chance to be a little more pro-active about things.

After all, there is a War on.

Mizumah is a balanced starting character.
