It's not easy, being ("WHACK! OWW!")
Right, what I meant to say was being an ethereal stuck on earth, with no way to get back home, is no bed of roses. Kermit was quite happy in the Far Marches: he's got enough Essence coming in from kids, science fiction fans and role-players that he's not destabilizing any time soon.
Alas, the Sorcerers that called him forth and bound him to this plane weren't interested in such details. Before anyone goes nuts, they weren't trying to summon Kermit: it was just luck of the draw. They probably would have put him back, too, if it weren't for the twenty Soldiers of War that showed up about then. Kermit managed to run away (you try shooting a Muppet in the back. You would? Yeah, right, you're a big tough guy: you'd shoot out his spine and wipe up the blood with Beaker's head. Pardon my snort of laughter), but he's been stuck on the streets ever since. He keeps to the shadows, of course: what he's seen of mortals so far doesn't exactly encourage him to ask a random passerby to tell him how to get to ("WHACK! WHACK! OWW! OWW!")
Fine, fine, he's not ready to ask directions. Now, the appearance of a Muppet at a Sorcerer's circle raised some eyebrows among the Host, but ruthless interrogation essentially cleared Kermit of any wrongdoing. Seeing as the forces of Flowers, Children, Dreams and Stone (why the last, we're not sure. You go ask them. What, no? Who's the tough guy now?) have collectively put their feet down, the Host is trying to send him back, rather than destroy him. Unfortunately, Kermit doesn't believe that (Heaven doesn't exactly have the best reputation among ethereals); he's also not inclined to make a deal with Hell. He just wants to go home.
So these days, in the alleys of a nameless city, a skinny little walking frog in a trenchcoat is wandering along. Because he's a swell frog, whenever he sees a problem that he could help with, he helps. But he keeps wandering, because he never knows when he'll be able to find a rare Ethereal Tether.
And some day he'll find it, that rainbow ("SMITE! SMITE! SMITE! OWW! OWW! OWW! CUT IT OUT…")
