forest; most common in Australia

Australia; Australian Phantom Kangaroos often travel in family groups.
General Classification: Neutral. The Phantom Kangaroo
is quite shy; it usually avoids contact unless cornered, in which case it
fights fiercely. There are two exceptions. First, the animals instinctively
recognize Children of the Grigori - they don’t always flee and never attack
first. The second is that they will attack other animals (usually wildlife, but
attacks on pets and livestock aren’t unheard of) in order to fulfill their
Need. Attacks on humans are rare and have yet to prove fatal as of this
writing.
Capsule Description: this creature is one of the
rare naturally-occurring animal Soldiers. The Phantom Kangaroo is a subspecies
of Grey Kangaroo that has an innate ability to play Songs. Even more unusual is
the fact that these talents sometimes breed true. Current theories of the
species’ origin point to a Grigori of Animals with a kangaroo Vessel; this may
account for the animals’ affinity for Children of the Grigori. Phantom
Kangaroos were originally confined to Australia. Individuals - and, in two cases,
small breeding populations - have been introduced to other countries (probably
by Kobalites).

American Monsters
Capsule Description of Reporter: Hailael earned her
Distinction after centuries of fieldwork tracking marsupial populations (a job
once overseen by Jordi’s Grigori). If not for Hailael’s investigations the
transferred Phantom Kangaroo populations might have grown much larger before
they were discovered. Hailael is now in charge of capturing Phantom Kangaroos
and returning them to Australia.
