Actually, the Saint did not create (or ever even
own) this particular relic, although it's certainly old enough to have been
around at the same time that he was.
The Harp is made out of faded, slightly pitted wood, with slightly tarnished
silver strings and the faint remnants of gilded inlays. Despite its appearance, it never has to be
tuned, never breaks a string and always plays beautifully.
The reason why it was named after the Saint is in
commemoration of Dunstan's ability to get people to listen to him; someone
playing the harp will be able to accomplish pretty much the same thing - at
least, until he or she stops playing.
There's been a fairly impressive number of owners of the Harp, over the
years, mostly because of the access that it grants to a normally inaccessible
Song. Most of its owners have been
either angelic or mortal; Hell keeps a cautious distance, for it is said that
any demon that plays it will Redeem within the year - and that any demon that
smashes it will be soul-killed within the same amount of time.
For what it's worth, just about every Seraph that's
encountered the Harp will readily agree that the legend's a crock, but since
when does a demon believe anything that an angel says, anyway?
