Cathy Karpenko has been teaching workshops in Ukrainian egg design tovarious groups in the Maritimes since 1978. Of Ukrainian descent, shewas taught the art as a child and has continued,sharing it with those interested in this ancient technique. As ajuried member of the Nova Scotia Designer Crafts Council, she hasparticipated in many craft markets and demonstrations. An ostrich eggshe designed was part of the Patterns Exhibit which has travelled thecountry. Currently she is an exhibitor in the Dalplex Christmas craftmarket each November in Halifax.

She began the supply business Ukrainian Egg Art Supplies as a mainlymail order business to fill the year-round needs of her many studentsand others who find supplies difficult to acquire. This has been aregistered Nova Scotia business since 1980.
