Hale Creek is an unmarked forestry site located on the
west side of Harrison Lake. It's a great camping site with
excellent scenery, remoteness, camping right on the shore if
you like and it's only about an hour or two away from the
Lower Mainland. Hale is a fairly easy site to find and the
trail is relatively easy, but can sometimes be "FUN" for a
stock vehicle.

To get to Hale Creek, turn off of HWY.7 at the Sasquatch Inn
(Harrison Mills) and onto the Morris Valley Rd. Follow this windy
road (""about"" 10Km) until you reach the Weaver Creek Fish
Hatchery ( you should now be on dirt road). This is now the West
Harrison Forestry Service Road. This forestry road runs all the way
up to Lillooet Lake and onto Pemberton if you have the time(weekend)
to drive it, with lots of other trails and camping along the way
(later). To get to the Hale site, just stay on the mainline, all the
main intersections are usually marked. Once you reach Wood Lake
Recreational Site(well marked) you're almost there. Go past Wood
Lake, over the next logging bridge and take the next right onto the
1st trail head. This way in has moderate use but is tucked off to the
side...it can easily be missed. You'll wind your way a couple of Km
to a steep hill (4L) down to the lake. At the base you'll find an old
logging shelter with fireplace (great for torrential downpour
weekends, never get those around here!!!), and about three tabled
sites. We usually prefer to drive on the beach on the right hand side
of the bay, around the point and pick a spot, or continue through the
creek and onto the other side. There is a second way into Hale and
that's about a kilometre (or the following right) from the first turn
off, but if you reach the turn off to Sunrise Lake (left side of
forest road) you've gone to far. This way actually used to be a
pretty good run with a few creek crossings and some good rock
crawling, but the powers that be decided it needed a face lift a
couple of years ago and cleaned it up. Although it did
deteriorate a bit over the last winter........ Maybe in a couple of
years!!!!!!!!!!
All in all Hale Creek is a beautiful spot to camp in, an area
that offers a lot of good wheelin',, Sunrise Lake, Lookout Lake( good
fishing as well) to name a few. It's only downfall, if your looking
for solitude on a long weekend (good luck anyways), is that it can
get pretty wild, but then everybody needs a good party once in a
while.
