Lake '00
(&
a bit of a holiday run)
Outta respect to the
locals that showed us this gem of a short trail (about a km long) and
fishing lake,, we just can't seem to remember it's location... Sorry
but we promised.. <g>
The first time we went into this
lake the trail was pretty rough with a few small mud holes.. But
typical of the Cariboo trails (that's the only hint coming your way
fisher guys <g>) throw in a little bit of rain and all of a
sudden you have your basic, slick, goose shit type muck.. Not very
deep muck but 1" to 12" of it causes you to slide all over, plugging
the m/t's up quickly. With some of the m/t's you can rev her up a bit
to clear the lugs but due to the tightness of this trail, roots all
over, spinning them too much could send you sliding into a tree or
two.. Believe me the trees were well marked from some of the locals'
previous visits.
We were first shown this lake while
camping at another lake in the area. The trail is tucked away nicely
and is tight. The first run we made in there, you could squeeze a
full size into it. But on our second visit Rox and I decided to go
while on a couple of weeks holiday. It rained a lot before leaving
the camp and sections we hadn't noticed previously now required a
couple of runs at them. Like I mentioned, they aren't deep just
greasy and with the roots, short stumps and all you required careful
momentum.
The fishing is also awesome with
loads of strikes and 22" Rainbows is the normal average catch size..
(that's right 22", apperently these are actually Gerald's Trout)..
(sorry guys <g>)
The second week of our holiday
was spent at Bose Lake and then we scooted down the West Harrison
forest service road. Stayed at a nice little tucked away bay..
Anyways, I threw some pictures in for sake of scenery..
