1992
Everything
began while I was a studying at Montmorency CEGEP (college)...
I had the desire to introduce to people a new style
of music and a new culture...The world of techno,
Goth and industrial.

1993
In order
to achieve this, I enlisted the help of my friend,
Jean-Sébastien Poulin. It was our very first
experience in the radio world. We finally obtained a
show at CREM 109, the college radio. We played stuff
like Front 242, Depeche Mode, the Sisters of Mercy,
etc, in the morning. Shortly after, I applied at CISM
FM to have some broadcasting time with my partner-in-crime,
Benoît Latulippe.
The result: MICROFUN, tuesday 11-1PM!

It was
not so easy to play industrial and everything at this
specific time of the day- especially with all these
damn French quotas! So I asked to be transferred to
the nighttime period. New schedule: tuesday, from
midnight until 3. We became LES
MOUCHES NOIRES (The
Black Flies). Why LES
MOUCHES NOIRES? Well,
"Noire" stands for Goth and what is more
annoying than a damn fly, who's bugging our lives!
However, Benoît left me, due to his studies. His
schedule became difficult, especially when he had to
wake up in the morning for university. So Jean-Sébastien
came back to replace him.

A miracle
happens: CISM decided to abolish my French quotas,
leaving me total freedom! The show became shorter,
still on tuesday, but from midnight til 1h30 AM.
T-shirts from LES MOUCHES NOIRES were sold in several
Goth-Industrial nights and in few stores. And tons of
interviews have been done, with artists such as
Laibach, Stabbing Westward, Front 242 and lots of
local artists.

A new
schedule arrives, with 30 extra minutes! It was the
best formula indeed: tuesday night, from midnight til
2 o'clock. It was just right and not too much,
because 1996 was the craziest year for Les Mouches
Noires. A horrific mix of drugs, alcohol and sex on
the airwaves!!! Every show was a total party. The
quality of the content suffered indeed...We had a
chronicle called "La gogosse de la semaine",
which was extremely popular. It involved us going to
a convenience store, every week, to try and eat the
most repulsive, ugliest thing sold there!
What a concept!

Jean-Sébastien
left, leaving me alone like a big boy! It was a big
return to myself: I became much wiser and deeper
concerning the show. The research improved and I
added more personal comments and thoughts.

A new
collaboration! Eloise Beaule will realize the
conception and elaboration of a new media for Les
Mouches Noires: a website!

We celebrated our 5th year at CISM, along with my
former co-hosts, Benoît Latulippe and Jean-Sébastien
Poulin. The band Aleister realized the new theme song-
in collaboration with the NRG recording studio and
Eloise Beaule.
1999
A new
team and a new concept for Les Mouches! We decided to
mix altogether genres such as EBM, industrial, Goth,
Electro, Synth Pop and 80's classics.
July 20th 1999: we celebrate our 300th show!

The new
team included François Joron (co-host since late
July 1999)
(Mr. Joron AKA Final Man is the founder of the
electro-industrial E-Zine ELECTROAGE)
and myself, François Richer.

2000
A very
good year for Les Mouches: the listening rates
increased fabulously, the show has never been this
strong and several bands start the year with us!
HAUJOBB, SPAHN RANCH and COLLAPSE visited us in
studio, along with several DJs, like DJ Bent! from
NYC and some Montreal DJs.
A new contributor is joining the show:
Mariame
Moussally (Gothic
column)

(Mariame
is in charge of one gorgeous fanzine, PLASTIQUE!)
So, in our diversity lies our force!!!
New schedule for Les Mouches! After 7 years on
tuesday...
We are now every Monday from 9-10 PM (since May 9th)
