Any changes or alteration allowed in the stock classes are
permitted
in Formula I
Any Kitty Cat is eligible
Formula I Rules
Engine
- Any OEM Kitty Cat engine may be used as long as an original
cylinder and crankcase is used.
- Engine components must retain original OEM part numbers.
- Engine displacement may not exceed manufacturers filed
specifications for stock. Cylinder may be bored to a maximum of .020
inch (0.5 mm) or .040 inch
(1 mm).
- Engine components allowable for modification must begin with
stock components, must retain original number of cylinders
- Cylinder
- Cylinder head
- Crankshaft
- Bearings
- Rods
- Pistons, piston pins and rings
- Gaskets
- Additional main bearing may be added to magneto side of
crankshaft. Additional support for added bearing allowed.
- No liquid cooling may be added.
- No reed valves may be added.
- No external crankcase modifications allowed. Except to add fuel
pump pulse fitting.
- Rods center to center must remain the same.
- OEM stroke must remain the same.
- Carburetor may be modified or replaced.
- Fuel injection or turbo chargers not allowed.
- Additional? fuel pumps may be added. Pulse fitting may be added
to crankcase to operate fuel pump.
- Recoil started cup must be in place.
- Any exhaust modification or replacement is allowed, with the
exception of megaphones. The exhaust system must be functionally
silenced. The exhaust emission pipe must not protrude more than three
(3) inches beyond the
chassis
or hood configuration. The exhaust pipe must exit downward and extend
below the plane of the top of the tunnel.
Drive
- Chain guard is required.
- Chain guard must cover all rotating components.
- Clutch and drive system may be modified or replaced. CVT
system allowed. Components must be commercially available.
- Conventional OEM style drivers are required.
- Brakes system may be replaced. Brake system must be functional at
all times.
Ski Suspension and Steering
- May be altered.
- Handlebars may be changed and or modified. Material strength
must
meet or exceed OEM handlebar material. Must structural integrity and
safe configuration.
Structural integrity and safe configuration are at the discretion of
the Race Director.
Ski and Ski Runners
- Skis may be changed to commercially available after market skis.
- Sno-cross minimum length 20 in.
- Oval and Ice Drag minimum length 12 in. minimum width 2.75 in.
- Minimum width and turn-up for Oval and Ice Drag are as shown
in illustration.
- Ski loop must conform to General Rules and Regulations.
- Ski runners must meet competition and safety requirements for the
type of racing (i.e. Oval or Sno-cross).
Track Suspension
- May be altered.
Track and Traction
- Twin tracks are not allowed.
- Conventional style tracks and drives are required.
- Any traction products are allowed but must meet Kitty Cat General
Tract and Traction Rules.
Frame and Body
- Must begin with a stock tunnel.
- Chassis may be altered as long as it doesn't interfere with
the
safety of the operator or other drivers.
- Overall sled length may not exceed sixty (60) inches.
Measurements will be from the rear of the tunnel (Excluding snow flap
and lifting handle) to the tip of the skis.
- Snowmobile may not exceed thirty (30) inches in width.
- Snow flap must touch ground with rider seated.
- Any hood allowed.
Ignition and Electrical
- Ignition may be modified or replaced.
- Gel cell and dry cell etc. batteries will be allowed.
Conventional
lead/acid wet cell batteries are not allowed.
