| Hi I am known as CC on Annie's Guest
Book and on #coro_street . My name is Carol Renaud and I live in Beautiful
Barrie, Ontario on Kempenfelt Bay.
I began watching Coronation Street when Vera,
Ivy, and Emily were employed in Mike Baldwins old factory before it was
sold to developers. My favourite characters at the time were Alf and Bet,
they added a great stability to "The Street". Today I do not have a favourite
character although, I do like Maude Grimes! The character I dislike most
is Steve McDonald, he is a vulture! Most of the newcomers to the street
I find very complex and I like simple straight forward folk with whom I
can identify.
I grew up on a street similar to Coronation
Street in a working class neighbourhood of Montreal, Canada. It was a street
inhabited by Irish immigrants and labourers. We also had a corner shop
that allowed families to buy "on tick" and I can remember a door to door
salesman who sold clothing and furnishings at a dollar down and a
dollar a week. The local tavern was where the men would gather on weeknights
for a beer while their wives would sit chatting on the front stoops of
the rowhouses, (in Quebec women were not allowed into taverns). The back
alley smelled of over ripe garbage which mingled with the smell of freshly
washed clothes on the washlines. Times were hard back then, but it was
a time when people shared with those who were in need. When a woman
had a chance to earn a few extra dollars cleaning houses in the wealthier
areas of Montreal, one of the neighbours would mind her children at no
cost.
When I was around 9 years of age my family
moved to the suburbs but I never forgot my early roots and in later years
I became a Community Social Service Worker in a troubled area of Toronto,
Ontario. I now am a full time housewife and share a quiet country
lifestyle with my husband and our two lovable old cats. My hobbies include
gardening, email penpals, writing poetry and reading. I also enjoy using
my computer and chatting with my Corrie street family. My aim in life is
to help create a more tolerant world and if I can inspire just one
person to change, I will have achieved success!
I shall be forever chasing rainbows!
