Dear Mr. and Mrs. Bletsch,
I received your letter a week ago and was very pleased to hear from you. I'd asked the officer that helped me get things prepared if there was any other family near that had to go through the same tragedy and he said he didn't think so and I was surprised to hear from you.
I would like a picture of your son very much. I will make a memorial album later on when I'll feel up to it.
. . . . .
Thanks for getting in touch with me and God will also bless you.
Mrs. Velma J. Scruggs

Dear Florence,
I received your letter but didn't answer right away because I was waiting on the pictures. This is not one of the latest one, but I could never get him to take a picture while out in Japan and send to us. He'd sent me a picture of the "crew" in front of that airplane and I tried to find your son on it but I couldn't. Was he married? S. J. and I would have been married 8 years on the 23rd of March.
.  . . .
His birthday was May 23rd so I had a Mass said for him on that day. He would have been 29 years old.
. . . . .
Always,
Velma Jane Scruggs

Dear Florence,
I finally received S. J.'s personal things. He'd bought quite a few articles and beautiful pictures. He knew that I loved things like that. Now everything seems so final.
. . . . .
I have my oldest boy enrolled in swimming class now and he's doing very good. I get out and play ball with them sometimes but its not like it being "daddy." They tell me they want a "daddy" because I don't know how to play ball good enought. I was always the indoor type and I find it hard to get out and rough-neck with them.
. . . . .
God Bless all of you.
Jane
