Staff Sergeant Franklyn N. Mills

CITATION TO ACCOMPANY THE AWARD OF

THE AIRMAN'S MEDAL

TO

Franklyn N. Mills

Staff Sergeant Franklyn N Mills distinguished himself by heroism involving
voluntary risk of life at DaNang Air Base, Republic of Viet Nam on 16 March 1970.
On that date Sergeant Mills assisted in rescue and firefighting
operations when a United States Navy EC-121 aircraft crashed on the flight
line of DaNang Air Base. Despite the hazard of exploding ordnance and fuel
cells and the fact the he was personally injured he unhesitatingly entered
the aircraft and persevered in his humanitarian efforts until all victims
were removed to a place of safety. By his courageous action and humanitarian
regard for his fellow man, Staff Sergeant Mills has reflected great credit
upon himself and the United States Air Force.

Thank you, Mr. Mills, for doing what you could.
