Information
& Directions
I. TYPES OF
GRANTS,
DEADLINES & NOTIFICATION DATES:
Angel
Program: Up to $300.00 per angel family Application dates: Ongoing
Notification: As soon as angel families have been secured.
Objective:
To provide teachers with equipment
and materials for innovative projects within the classroom.
Foundation
Grant Program: Awards up to $2,499.00 Application dates: Nov. 1 and March 15 Notification: Nov. 30 & April 30
Objective:
To provide funding for programs, equipment
and training that will involve a broad spectrum of the student
population.
Preference will be given to proposals that include an entire grade level or
school.
Special
Projects: Awards
over $2,500.00 Application date: May 15
Notification: June 15
Objective:
To provide funding for major projects/equipment
and all technology. Requests are submitted through the building
principals
and must contain the superintendent's approval signature.
II.
ELIGIBILITY:
In-District
teachers, administrators & staff are eligible. Parents and
community members are eligible with the sponsorship of an in-district
teacher or administrator.
III.
CRITERIA:
* Embody and
contribute to the philosophies and educational goals of the District.
* Include an
assessment mechanism to evaluate the effectiveness of the grant program
or equipment request upon completion of the project.
* Enhance the
learning experiences of the Chester Township Public School students.
* Be appropriate
to the audience.
* Embody and
contribute to the philosophies of the Educational Foundation Mission
and Vision Statements.
IV.
GUIDELINES:
1. A
per
diem rate of $100.00 will be paid for all overnight seminars.
2. Mileage
at the current IRS approved rate will be paid for all seminars that do
not
require an overnight stay.
3. A
maximum of
two teachers per grade level will be sent to the same seminar.
4. Only
one grant will be awarded for any proposal.
5. Grants
awarded to different applicants to conduct a mutual project will equal
no
more than the maximum amounts as specified in
"Awards".
6. Grants may
not be used for: fund raising purposes, general operating
expenses, or activities that are primarily for
entertainment purposes.
7. An
individual or group receiving grant funds agrees to complete a
questionnaire from
the Foundation to give feedback on the merits of the program
or equipment.
8. If
substitute teachers are needed for implementation of your grant, any
approval of
the grant will be subject to the school Board's agreement to pay
for these
substitutes.
9. If
School Board approval or funding is necessary for implementation of
your grant,
(i.e., Family Math, Family Science), any approval of the
grant
by the Foundation will be subject to the necessary
approval
or funding by the School Board.
10.Creative
programs are preferred over commercially available packages.
11.Grants that
share materials and/or techniques between grades, groups and schools
will
be given preference.
12.A clear,
concise, organized plan for use of money granted, with specific
evaluation steps
and criteria will enhance the application.
13.A detailed,
exact itemization of all costs, including shipping & handling, is
required.

Note:
If a recipient does not use all or a portion of the grant as planned,
the
money must be returned to the Foundation for future disbursement.
The
Foundation
reserves the right to attach a time limit to any grant it makes.
